I believe the neighborhood (in Chicago) was overwhelmingly African-American. There used to be a fast food shop that served delicious sausages, hot dogs, roast beef sandwiches etc. that I frequented. I recall the owners being Asian-Americans. And yes, the establishment had a security turnstile for transactions. I, like everyone else had to wait in a queue for my food. I merely deduced that it was that way because it must have been a too frequent victim of robbery or other crime.

Alas, it (this type of security for business establishments) is still pervasive in some neighborhoods in America. However, it is also important to note some establishments like a jewelry store or a bookstore that I frequented as well, The Abraham Lincoln Bookshop have security (they buzz their customers inside) apparatus because of the rare books or documents they sell. The neighborhood doesn't matter. The establishment knows to secure itself because of the contents.

Look, I understand this video to be most unfortunate and for me repellant. I'm really not sure why ANYONE needs to film this. But, some businesses in some areas of America must resort to this type of security. At least, this is better a gun behind the counter.
