Just before the collapse of Lehman Brothers, executives at Neuberger Berman sent e-mail memos suggesting, among other things, that the Lehman Brothers' top people forgo multi-million dollar bonuses to "send a strong message to both employees and investors that management is not shirking accountability for recent performance."

Lehman Brothers Investment Management Director George Herbert Walker IV dismissed the proposal, going so far as to actually apologize to other members of the Lehman Brothers executive committee for the idea of bonus reduction having been suggested. He wrote, "Sorry team. I am not sure what's in the water at Neuberger Berman. I'm embarrassed and I apologize."

[FYI: Lehman Brothers Investment Management was their hedge fund.]

And bringing up names that haven't been in office for over twenty years? That's some nice barrel-scraping, there. If that's the best you can do to argue in your favor, you're not standing on very solid ground.

It would be nice to debate a conservative that can demonstrate an ability to think critically. Like E G Marshall in Twelve Angry Men. There just aren't any around these days.

The environment is not merely a bunch of parks you drive to over a 3 day weekend. The environment is what we are a part of all the time. Without a healthy environment, we could not survive one day.

What I just said is Greek to a Republican. Hence the paltry few endorsements from environmental groups.
