To use a Gift Certificate or Not....Does change the service a little....
We have Been there many times, and the food is not consistent.Sometimes it not OK, sometimes it Good. But this last visit the food was Good. The Service while we were eating was good, until we paid the bill. Our Server, and I think she is the owner was on the phone and would not get off to ring us out. She kept on looking through the tickets to find ours, and I had to tell which one was ours. She made a rude comment that she knew which one it was. I had a Restaurant Gift Certificate for $25.00 off. When I gave the gift certificate to her, she really didn't make me feel comfortable. I sorta got an attitude for us using the Gift Certificate. Why do they sell these gift certificates on Restaurant if they really do not want to take them?? Also just a heads up, they add the 18% gratuity to the bill before they take off the $25.00. So I would not give an extra tip when you sign your credit card bill...
Last comment reads "take the time to put out some decent potatoes" that's a ridiculous comment!!! AS ALL THESE PEOPLE WORK THEIR TAILS OFF IN THERE!!!

This restaurant ROCKS...the staff is SUPER nice, the place is all about the food, and believe me when I tell you we drove from downtown Seattle and I will do the trip all over again. Honestly, the staff is so pleasing, I can't say I have EVER been anywhere else where I felt literally at "home."

Perfection will always keep you in the short....as nothing in the world is perfect, Southern Kitchen comes close to it!!!!

The mango lemonade is to die for!!!!

Way to go Southern Kitchen :)))))

Great fried chicken, awesome mac and cheese, collard greens...probably good, but not my thing, chicken fried steak--best I've had, beans--so, so, mashed potatoes--powdered!

All was good, but take the time to put out some decent potatoes. That was the only disappointment.

I had Southern baked chicken with collard greens, candied yam, rice and mashed potato all in a big oval plate. The waitress Lisa was very reassuring everytime she passed my table: I didnt forget you, she said. She mentioned earlier that they were closing in 15 minutes. I got there at 7:45 and the place was still packed. It was my first time to eat southern food and the taste will forever be etched in my culinary memory. I was particularly impress with the candied yam. They were sliced, still whole, warm syrup which wasnt too sweet! The yam just melted in my mouth! It was also my first time to eat corn grit pan cakes, which they gave me as a free appetizer. What a culinary expreienc!

This place has become a low key birthday tradition for my friends and I. Catfish and collards and strawberry lemonaide have a way of making even the most depressing reminder of aging seem silly. How can you feel low about life when there is soul food?
