The Higher Force
Iceland, 2008 | 80 min. | Dir. Olaf de Fleur
Despite a violent accident in the beginning of the film, The Higher Force isn’t the chilled bit of nastiness you’d expect from an Icelandic mob movie. Instead, you’re basically watching smarmy gangsters squabble over a few paltry thousand dollars, and rooting for a poet who makes time as a collector trying to slightly increase his reputation by running a scam on his friends. It’s way more 101 Reykjavík than Pulp Fiction, but if you like Icelandic cinema, it’s a joy from beginning to end.
