The best part of this Austrian doc is that it doesn’t beat the viewer about the head with its ecological message: Rather than tell us about the perilous state of water around the world, the director shows us. The three segments of the film explore the dramatic shrinking of the Aral Sea, the massive flooding of coastlands in Asia, and the thrice-daily treks of people in Nairobi to buy water from the few lucky men who own spigots. It’s a deftly made documentary that sounds alarm bells without being alarmist.
