Dir. Johnny Symons
It's a documentary that could direct itself: the story of the American military’s pathetic record of lowering all of its other standards but ejecting gays (including 300 Arabic, Korean, and Farsi linguists since 9/11) while trying, and failing, to get enough soldiers to fight in Iraq and Afghanistan. In addition to getting the right talking heads, and the talking heads being right, director Johnny Symons follows a current soldier, an easygoing young black man from San Francisco who learns what it means to be an invisible man all over again as he deploys to Iraq.
