A histrionic drama about Ben, a supposedly autistic teenager (more like an adult Neanderthal) who retreats into role-playing video games when he’s bullied at school. Neither he nor his tormentors are particularly credible, never mind the pretty girl he either meets or invents online, and the revenge scenario he dreams up is weaker still. Ben feels he’s really accomplished something when he earns his peers’ enthusiastic pity; you get the feeling filmmaker Nic Balthazar—struggling to prove Flemish cinema can be flashy, too—would settle for the same.
