The slew of pitying documentaries about Lost Boy refugees is over, and the leading edge of a new genre is at hand: The found Sudanese boy who made good. Sent away from the civil war, Emmanuel Jal was on his way to school across the border when his crowded boat sank, killing most of the children on board. He swam to safety, but his refugee camp loaned the kids out as child soldiers. A British aid worker took pity on him and sneaked him away to a life of relative luxury. Then she died. Eventually, Jal became a hiphop star in the UK. This is his crazy story.
