Dir. Linas Phillips
The Genius Award-winning filmmaker Linas Phillips follows up his fascinating debut feature, Walking to Werner, with this fascinating-sounding film featuring homeless men and women reciting great speeches. Someone with blasted eyes and a grubby beard reciting an articulation of abstract truth is mesmerizing and a reminder of the awesome power of words. But the movie has none of the narrative power of Walking to Werner, and the filmmaker’s insertion of himself into many scenes, with ruminations by him and others about what a drag homelessness is, results in a hodgepodge. Nevertheless, Seattle looks beautiful: steely, watery, and crepuscular. (Director Linas Phillips scheduled to attend.)
