Easily the best thing to happen to vampire movies in a very long time, Tomas Alfredson's Let the Right One In works on so many levels it almost demands a second viewing. On the surface it's about a lonely 12-year-old boy who befriends a mysterious new neighbor—only to discover that she's a bloodthirsty vampire who needs fresh meals on a regular basis. Beyond that simple little horror story, the movie touches on questions on love and loss, maturity and morbidity, alienation and alliances, and it does so with a great deal of care and craftsmanship. Already scheduled for an English-language remake, this fantastic Swedish import is an absolute must for the horror fans—although they definitely won't be the only ones who love it.
