This is a movie that thinks. What it considers carefully and successfully is the current state of race and class relations in Singapore. The city has three main racial groups—Chinese, Indian, Malayan. The Chinese dominate the business class, the Indians the working class, and Malayans are at the bottom of things. The film examines the realities of this social structure through the lens of a tragedy that strikes a fragile Malayan family. (Director Marc X Grigoroff scheduled to attend.)
