If you’ve always wished you could have seen Meryl Streep rehearse for her not-very-well-received performance in Public Theater’s 2006 production of Mother Courage and Her Children, this is your chance. The documentary Theater of War is a superficial study of the Brecht play, with face time with everybody from Streep, who’s articulate as usual, to the costume designer, who’s fond of military hats. Not quite as stupid as last year’s token theater doc, Wrestling with Angels, but close. (Director John Walter scheduled to attend.)
