Time travel is getting harder to use as a plot device, but Timecrimes comes close to bringing something new to the screen. A suburban man wielding a pair of binoculars in his own backyard enjoys an illicit peep at a pair of breasts. Within minutes, he’s being hunted by a bandaged maniac and acting out events beyond his own understanding. What at first seems enigmatic is eventually explained, and the physics of the movie make perfect sense, even if the characters’ motivations don’t always add up.
