This surrealist portrait of corporate malignancy borrows visual strains from Brazil and Joe Versus the Volcano, and in concept it's much like The Firm or any of the satirical postulates about the corporate invasion of the world by postmodern writers (see David Foster Wallace for the high point). The film may not be terribly original, but it has three things going for it. Two are jokes: a never-explained recurring mispronunciation and the fact that the great threat to society is people spontaneously exploding. Its third charm is the talent—deadpan comic Zach Galifianakis, indie regular James LeGros, Judy Greer (Kitty from Arrested Development), and the perfect dunderhead, Missi Pyle. (Director Jared Drake, screenwriter Brandon Drake, and various producers scheduled to attend.)
