Siberian's MySpace proFIle doesn't say much about the new local outfit other than "Siberian is an indie rock band from Seattle, WA." Their music, however, says so much more—it beams with dynamic guitars and wooing vocals reminiscent of the Snow Patrol's Gary Lightbody or a less-wimpy Stuart Murdoch. The song "Airship" is a crisp pop track, with a flourish of charming xylophone. "O Orien" is a bit more dramatic, with angular guitars dancing at an upbeat bounce and then falling into an intricate, almost jarring downfall. It's all very melodramatic and pretty.

For the record, Siberian is Finn Parnell, Zach Tillman, and Colin Wolberg. The trio formed last year, and although they have no official release to their name (other than a Xerox-wrapped four-song demo that's floating around), the young men have managed to start a small buzz in the music community thanks to the songs posted on the web. In fact, their track record could make any struggling band slightly green with envy. They've played notable shows at the Crocodile, Neumo's, Chop Suey, and El Corazón, and they've already appeared on both KEXP's Audioasis and 107.7 The End's The Young & the Restless. While all the support has certainly been a surprise, it also spurred the group as they finished writing material for their debut full-length—which they hope to record before the end of the year.

"We're just happy to be playing music to begin with," says singer/guitarist Parnell. "The fact that people have been so receptive in such a short time is incredible and motivating. It's nice to be noticed, especially when there's so much good stuff already out there."

Before Siberian takes time off from playing live to record, the band is playing the Real Vampires Halloween Ball on Sunday, October 30. It'll be a good chance to see, as Parnell says, one of the good things already out there.
