Restaurant Details

  • Chef Nick Castleberry comes to Artemis from Sitka & Spruce, and he's learned well from Sitka & Spruce's vaunted Matt Dillon. He's sourcing local and organic ingredients, but the menu is silent on the subject—to him, it's elementary. The menu is not revolutionary—roasted chicken breast, pan jus, mashed potato ($13); pork chop, borlotti beans, peppers ($14)—but with Castleberry's care, what sounds average can be transformative, at neighborhood-place prices. The food here is anti-overwrought, pushes pure flavors to the fore, and is, in short, delicious.
  • Features: Bar/Happy Hour, Catering, Late-Night Dining and To Go
  • Cuisine: Italian, Mediterranean/Greek, Middle Eastern and Spanish
  • Serving Hours: Tues-Sun 5 pm-2 am

Yum

It's right across the street from me, so I go over for Sunday brunch and drinks a lot... both are excellent. Dinner is expensive, it's true, but the food is amazing.

Really nice romantic place

Both times I've been there has been a great experience. It is a little pricey but all the food we had was delicious. The staff was nice and it's a really pretty space.

Not returning

Tonight was our third meal at Artemis - and our last. VERY limited menu (and way too precious) - and VERY small portions. Worse was that the food has so little flavor - A teeny beef briskit that was mostly fat with a tiny amount of mash potatoes. Partner had pasta - about one cup worth with a dollop of goat cheese and some raisins - $15!! Amateur server too (any many others standing around.) I'm hungary and $60 poorer!

artemissing something

Beautiful space, nice folks, teeny tiny portions. I mean, two little pasta things for $9? How about maintaining the prices, just filling the plates a bit more. I like the reasonable wine list.

No...

Place is well decorated clean . Service was excelent. Not enough space between tables. Menu was very limited and not interesting. portions are extremly small for a relativly high price. no espresso machine. Food was not exciting, I left hungrey. with the feeling that i just been to a place that really want to take my money for a very small value.

I Like =)

This place is not close to my apartment but I still like to come here and enjoy a nice meal. Not sure what kind of stick Tim (see above) has up his ass but I'm sure it's painful. I've been here about six times and had good food and wine every time. The ambiance is nice and so are the staff. My only wish is that the place were a little bigger but the cozy feel is nice too.

Cardboard box?

I was there! The percussionist was playing a wooden box called a Cajon and he was doing a pretty decent job of it as well. I thought he and his admirer looked pretty cute together, myself. It is a cool room, but in typical Capitol Hill fashion, parking was an issue. I'd go back with or without a show.. What's with The Stranger's reviewers inner need to appear clever and oh so worldly? The end result is that they obviously are neither.

My favorite new(ish) place

Super great food, frickin' great service (especially Jen), the nicest owners/hosts, what more could you ask for? Hmmmm....maybe keep the (perhaps crack smoking?) Stranger critic and her followers away.

Ugh

This place is very close to my apartment. I've gone four times, it was excellent once and horrible three times. Why is it that every place on the hill can figure out how to seat and serve patrons with some civility except Artemis? It seems as though the wealthy owners gave thought to atmosphere and nothing else. It's the blind leading the blind over there.
