Good food wierd service

This was the second time I had visited Ballard Brothers and I like their food. The first time the service was spot on and the people very freindly. Last night it was terrible and wierd. I felt like I was in a candid camera episode. The person was gruff and short. I went to pay, and out of the $3.86 change I was supposed to get, he gave me 3.00, so I rang the bell and questioned it. He opened the drawer and slammed another dollar on the counter.

Behind me came three more customers. Who made their order and had again gotten only the dollar amount. The worker claimed he had no change. The customer looked in to point out there was a roll of nickles. The worker said you really need your change? He said we actually are closed. This was 8:30 and I said, I thought you were open until 9? He says to me, I have the power to close anytime I choose. We all got our food, and asked the cook when the manager would be in. Oh and I tried calling in my take out order, and no one was answering the phone.

Food is pretty good, but you will never find a clean table and the place is dirty. Staff is kind of unfriendly too. Yuck.

I went there the other day and had the grilled salmon sandwich. It was fabulous! The bun was soft, the grilled salmon had carmelized onions and then there was the gooey yummy sauce inside. yummm-o!
Oh they give you nice hot crispy fries with the order and they also get points in my book for being green.
Most of their stuff is compostible...! yeah!!!!
I think they'll be at the Bite-of-Seattle...? If I go I'll look for them!

Okay, though the busty woman can be a bitch

Good food and they get the order 80% correct usually.

The problem is the busty woman behind the register has a very anti-customer stance. Theres been times where I've asked for one item to be removed from my order and they've made the mistake. After I told her about it, she insisted I never said anything. I then showed a receipt showing order requesting the removal of one ingrediant, and she just got uppity and left (the employee left behind ended up helping me out).

Also, the take out cups they give you have shrank over time to some "environmentally friendly" cups which are the size of a dixie cup.

addicted & educated

I checked out this place because so many people I know hang in Ballard and rave about this place. I must admit, I read reviews. I go to citysearch, yelp and ultimately the stranger... because the readers are so diverse and in-your-face honest. The reviews there at BB are so love or hate! It's either bitter & bored blog addicts or they have a bi-polar staff. I had to find out as I love a good burger! I went on Friday lunch- they had a serious line but it moved pretty fast. The lady at the register was worth the visit alone...opinionated, no non-sense but with a quality so real I had to take her counsel. So I had the cajun salmon and added a piece of cod for $3 just to see if they were good at both. MMMMMMMMM, total perfection for the price point. I would've paid 5 times the amount at a visually superior establishment, but I was there to eat- and that I did! Service from manager (Patty??) personable and HONEST! I have been back three times in a month, same quality and service. Needs some artwork and maybe more vegetarian options.. but otherwise- this place is worth the reputation. It kicks others to curb. But do get beer, wine and maybe a flat screen for news or sports-please!!!

Treated poorly

We've been several times and had good burgers and fish and fairly friendly service. Today my son thought the burger tasted funny and I thought it was a bit off too. When I asked them if it's possible to get a new one the woman working in the kitchen said it had just been cooked. The manager/ possibly owner walked me back out to our table and questioned my 9 yr old son as to what was wrong and insisted that their beef was fresh and nothing should be wrong. His tone was accusatory. He then angrily offered to order us another if we wanted and after being hassled we declined. We'd had enough of the rude treatment. Not worth our money to go again! We'll go to Scooters instead!!

Not to Shabby

After reading the reviews I wasn't sure what I was going to get. It turns out I got a damn good burger and great customer service. The guy that helped us, who might have been the owner, was great. Very kind and very personable. Got the Hawaiian Burger, Onion Rings, Kids Corn Dogs, and Cod Sandwich... all very tasty. The fries where perfect, nice snap to them without being overcooked. Onion rings where HUGE. Overall, very nice experiance, and will definitly go back again. I mean it was gritty yes, but had some charm that the wendys nextdoor couldn't come close to showing. Not to mention food that would blow it away.

somewhere between dick's and fine dining...

Yes - it's a bit gritty - but I really like this place. I've loved their blackened salmon for years (back when they only did festivals). Their chicken BLT is awesome also. Been maybe about 10 times - consistently good experience. I appreciate that a down-to-earth place like this has opened in Ballard recently. It feels very pre-condo Ballard. If they had beer it would be perfect.

Only ONE issue (a pretty big one!)

I've been there 4 times in the past 2.5 wks; I've had the bacon burger, the fried oysters, the blue cheese burger, and the cajun salmon burger. The FLAVORS are good, BUT, the food seems to be cold...the fries are the right CRUNCH, but they're cold too.

THE BEST.

Everything I have ever tried from this place has been awesome. Their bacon cheeseburgers are the best that I have ever had, and their chicken and salmon sandwiches are also delicious. The ingredients have always tasted fresh and the service I've received there has always been way above par.

Unsatisfied

I waited over 1/2 hour for a takeout order. I spoke with the manager and he gave me some bs excuse for having to use frozen patties for my hambugers, when I had actually ordered there famous blackened cajun salmon. Not only was the food nasty but it was also cold by the time I tried to eat it 5 minutes later. These guys do not care about customer service or the would accept e-mails on their website. If you have lots of time and want to eat at a local joint that don't know the word service this is right up your alley.

AMAZING

These burgers are incredible. Seriously amazing. I really don't think there is any place you can get a better burger in ballard. And fries and tax are included in the price.

Don't bother

I don't know....They're now in the former Skipper's location on 15th. It looks like a Skipper's...and my fish and chips tasted like Skipper's (greasy). They even play elevator music at a volume you notice.
