Up until a couple of months ago, Barca was a fun hot spot for people in their twenties. Recently it seems it has almost become 'full of itself' because it is so popular. The problem is that it is nothing special. Great atmosphere and okay prices, but what really brings people back? Usually, as a bar gets more popular they are able to make updates or at least improve on certain things. However, I have never had a good experience at the front door. The bouncer is always rude and has a "I don't care if this person comes back" attitude. To be honest, i think it is the front door that is their biggest problem. It is very uninviting. You can even pay them to cut the line.

I will not go on to discuss every mishap I have experienced at this once fun, new, and hip bar that has overstayed it's welcome and who's popularity no longer makes any sense. But, I would like to share two examples that I think deserve to be heard.

One Saturday night at about 1:00 am my friends and I thought we would stop in to a mildly packed Barca for some end of the night fun. They did not let us in. Without reason they rudely told us that it was 'too late' and as the doorman snickered barely paying attention to us paying customers, we tried to reason and be let in. It didn't make sense why he was rude or why we were not let in.

Last Saturday night my friends were at Barca for a friends' birthday. They are three very beautiful 22 year-old girls and had just started drinking. The birthday girl was bumped and dropped her drink. The waiter grabbed her arm and told her to leave. Her friend was angry when she saw this and explained to the waiter what had happened. He proceeded to palm her face and push her. YES a guy waiter did this to a girl. This story ends with the waiter telling them to "get the f*** out of his bar." They emailed the manager and still have not heard back.

I'm confused as to why it is so popular, but had no problem with it until recently. I'm not going to go on and talk about how much I hate Barca because everyone can make their own decision. However, I do think it is important for people to know about these experiences as to make sure this is not a common trend.
