Clark is the frontman of the Lashes, which plays with Droo Church and Bearskin Rugburn this Thurs Jan 17 at the Sit & Spin.

What do you think would be more painful to lose: your arm or the ability to have an orgasm?

"My arm."

Why?

"Because what good is having an orgasm if you only have one arm?"

That somewhat defies a frontman's stereotype; you're supposed to get into rock for the chicks...

"Nah, I got into it for the money, it just hasn't shown up yet. I'm still living in the living room of a one-bedroom apartment."

So what are the best and the worst things about working at a record store [Easy Street in Ballard]?

"There are no bad things, because the terrible things that happen are romantically bad."

What about the good things?

"Everything! I love it so much, but I'm used to selling jeans to 16-year-old Japanese foreign exchange students."

Where was that?

"At the Levi's store. If anything can drain your soul, it's working at a huge downtown retail store."

Yeah, whenever I make the mistake of walking through Old Navy, I just feel sorry for those kids running around in headsets.

"I keep going back in there to see those dancing legs."

Dancing legs?

"There's a whole line of legs that march back and forth, robotic ones. I could spend hours watching the dancing legs. That's how they hook people in--you'd think it was their prices, but it's the dancing legs."

What are the most essential ingredients of a good pop song?

"Short, sweet, and dumb enough for the masses."
