Sabrina Rock Arena
Not only has she selected a terribly appropriate surname, the fiercely foxy Sabrina demonstrates some wicked good taste on stage with her passionately punk band Cookie. She's really quite a sweet girl (and I even got her to blush during this interview), but she wields enough fearsome charisma that you could envision her scaring the pants off Courtney Love. Cookie plays with the Glory Holes, Amazombies, and Vandemonium on Sat Feb 9 at the Sit & Spin.

What's on Cookie's agenda right now? Big tour plans? Endorsement deals with the Nabisco folks? "The coolest thing about Cookie right now is that we actually have an agenda. There was a time when our agenda was finding the best Mexican food in Seattle and looking for Krispy Kreme doughnut shops on the road. But now we're about to put out our second full-length record, called Sweat Soaked & Satisfied. It was produced by Conrad Uno, and it's coming out on a brand-new label called Infect Records. It's looking like the CD will also be licensed in Europe, so we have tour plans for this summer. Personally, I'd like to go to Scandinavia."

So is it true you have a Paul Frank purse named after you? "Yep. It's true."

Jeez, that's extra-cool. What does it look like? "The 'Sabrina Rock Arena' is a red plaid handbag with zippers, O-rings, and safety pins. It's part of a historically named line of 'punk rock' accessories which include the 'Exene Cervenka' bracelet and the 'Polly Styrene' handbag."

What's your biggest unfulfilled fantasy that has nothing to do with sex or money? "I know: revenge!"

Do elaborate.... "Okay... I am transformed into a powerful music mogul. Every wicked promoter, evil club owner, ruthless booking agent, creepy music critic, phony A&R person, crooked lawyer, and atrocious West Seattle plumber who has ever screwed me all wake up one morning to find they have each inherited musical virtuosity. They decide to seek careers as musicians and form a band. After 10 years of dedication, poverty, and obscurity, they hire me as their manager. [Evil laugh.]"
