Closed down

Just drove by and saw they'd shut down after 12 years.

Best outdoor dining and food

If you are looking for a great outdoor location that doesn't sacrifice food for the view, try Casa D'Italia. We eat inside where it's cozy in the winter, but can't wait when the weather turns nice to have some great puttanesca or homemade meatballs in their garden. Try their blood orange Bellini at the outside wine bar, just close your eyes and pretend you're in the Cinque Terra ! Last visit I had pork marsala and my husband tried a spicy sausage and peppers pasta(it was some sort of wild game). We find their selection always surprising and delightfully delicious. Oh, and don't forget about the homemade cookies or cheesecake for dessert !

I would not make a special trip

If you live within a few blocks of this rather run down place, fine. If you don't mind the trip outdoors to the back of the house bathroom, fine. If you like entrees with luscious Italian names, high prices and bland taste, fine. We found the owner either very tired or arrogant and the food, frankly, was just not very good at all. We each had a different entree, but we all agreed each dish was bland and suffered from a lack of distinctive character. This place is fine for a family looking for a place with character and approachable children's food, but it needs a good dose of refined efforts in the kitchen to make it worth the rather high prices asked for the entrees. Look around - you can do better.

Off Night?

My girlfriend and I went to Casa D'Italia back in the summer of 2008. The back patio was pleasant and nice but felt much less like a restaurant and more like someone's backyard. We eventually received some service and were shown a large chalk board with the about 10 items on it. All with fantastic names and descriptions that I can't actually pronounce or remember. They all sounded excellent.

However what we later found out is that each dish was the same pasta (overcooked gummy penne in our case) with just a different topping. Mine, a bland weak marinara with some sausage. Her dish was a watery base with a few poorly cooked vegetables on top.

It was pretty disappointing. Perhaps we just experienced an off night there.

best italian food in seattle

Anyone who goes to this restaurant and does not leave satisfied is down right crazy and does not know good quality food. The owner/cook of the place is very family oriented like most italians. He occasionally (depending on how busy he is) will come check to make sure your food is excellent and get to know ya a little bit. Everyone makes mistakes when doing a custom order from time to time, but even if he did something wrong its going to taste 1000x better then anyone else can make in washington state. the dinner plates are usually 5 or 6 diff items, but the way they are cooked/ingedieants vary every day. If your a big fan of italian food make sure you hit this place up and tip big!

The best Italian in Seattle

The food is simply the best Italian in Seattle. The service is superb. The wait staff are all very helpful about the items on the menu, what items to eat together, what wine to pair it with. You will find the ambience to be extremely attractive, comfortable, and inviting. The cooking is out of this world, the menu is always seasonal with only the best ingredients available. You can go there on a date for the best date ever. You can also go there with your kids, because we all know italians love kids, and the owners here are no exception. Kids are treated with extra attention here all of the time. You can even go alone and feel comfortable and get the best service in town. The prices are very reasonable, especially considering the high level of quality you receive for the price. I had completely given up on trying to find a good Italian restaurant in Seattle, since moving here from New York, until I found this one. It really is the most authentic and delicious food I have had since moving here. I have been here for 9 years. You will not be disappointed. Just don't forget to try the dessert!

A taste of real Italy

Seattle is full of "Italian" restaurants and perhaps 3 or 4 of them serve authentic Italian food. Casa D'Italia is the only place I have been to in the States where I am transported back to Tuscany. Try the Pasta Rustica, full of fresh, seasonal, mouthwatering vegetables! Bring a date and make a romantic night of it on the patio.

Good and cozy

100% good packed into such a small place. I've eaten here three times and come away feeling satisfied with lunch for the next day in hand. While the prices for dinner are a bit more $$, it's been worth it all three times.

Beautiful place to eat

I love this place. The rotating menu always features mouthwatering options, the staff is friendly if a bit slow, but the patio is like sitting in a friend's garden. Beautiful.

Disappoined

I have passed by this little restaurant a dozen times or so during my pet-sitting jobs in Seattle, just craving a taste of home...I am from NJ and thought this would be the place to take me there. I called to check out the menu...it sounded very appetizing, so I FINALLY went in. I was cordially greeted by a sweet girl who read me the specials, but I was looking for some downhome NY food. I ordered the MB/Saus Parm sandwich ($9.50) to which I wanted to add peppers and onions, which they charged me (an ADDITIONAL $2) I asked for some marinara on the sandwich and they wanted to charge $3.50 additional - that is absolutely crazy - in NY or NJ - that would have never been an additional charge. I opted take-out and waited 45 minutes for the sandwich. When I got it home, I was very disappointed to find that there was NO marinara or mozzarella on the sandwich, just some parmesan. Usually in NJ/NY - "Parm" means loaded w/mozzarella and "gravy" (sauce-marinara) Anthony was very nice, and thought that my choice of adding peppers and onions to the MB/Saus was a wonderful idea. I was SO DISAPPOINTED, I couldn't believe that I paid $13 for a a hero that was not up to NJ/NY standards. He should be ashamed to say he is from Brooklyn and serving such below standard (New York food) I won't go back.
