As we grind against another cold, wet November, the Central District's Central Cinema offers a glorious, silver-screened reprieve. The booths are warm and plush; the meals are freshly prepared and delivered to your seat—a stone-oven-baked pizza ($8) with beer ($4) is a standard but faultless combination, especially followed by the chocolate caramel ganache cake ($6). As for entertainment: November brings a typically and charmingly idiosyncratic lineup, from Stanley Kubrick's classic Dr. Strangelove to Humphrey Bogart's career-closing The Harder They Fall, plus a special, one-night-only screening of the local-star-studded camp-horror comedy Creatures from the Pink Lagoon on November 9.
