Best bar in Seattle by far - if you go early (happy hour), know people, and are a hipster (or enjoy checking them out)

This place is a Seattle Capitol Hill landmark. It's definitely worth checking out. The play is crawling with trendy, attractive hipsters - even if you're not one, there's eye-candy galore. Personally, I love this bar. The decor is great, and everyone looks way hot under the red lights. Good happy hour and good food. Cute bartenders. Good selection of music usually.

Downs: Totally packed on weekends, impossible to get a drink. On-tap selection is kind of weird (they're always running out of Rainer) and you can't hear yourself talk at all. Nice place to drink yourself into a stupor alone, but not a great place for socializing. You will feel a bit left out here - unless you have the balls to introduce yourself to some people, then you'll be fine. Seattleites put off this stand-offish vibe, but break through their thin veneer of indifference, and you're golden. Instant friends.

On a weekend, you'll wait in line here for several minutes.

Everyone in this place looks like the front page of Hipster Runoff only lit with cheap red Spencer's Gifts lightbulbs. Deadly hipster eye-daggers shoot through your body as you decsend the stairs.

Bartenders & waitstaff are confrontational and the bouncers (like, all 6 of them I counted once) beg for an excuse to crush heads.

Crappy music is played, deafening volume. Don't expect to socialize with your friends.

Don't know about you, but I go to bars to have FUN. None here.

Welcome to Seattle

Now, I just moved to Seattle. And this was the first bar I stumbled into. First off, there is a definate "i know you, you know me" vibe in the Cha-Cha. Local groups of friends get together, get a pitcher, and chill. That's nice and all...if you know people. I don't. While I appreciate that people aren't trying to pick up on people like in other bars, one feels a bit left out at the Cha-Cha. The local vibe and great decorating almost make up for it. Just don't go there alone.
