So... you work in a bakery. When was your last food fight?

Last weekend at the end of a fundraiser benefit we held for a local glass artist—Kelly McLain—who recently suffered a brain aneurysm. We got into a large food fight while cranking Def Leppard and dancing on the countertops. There were over 200 people, and we raised close to $10,000 for Kelly's hospital bills.

How do you know Kelly?

She's one of our bakers. My business partner and best friend, Shanon, is our main baker. She creates all of our recipes, as well as reviving vintage desserts. We've seen a huge upswing of retro desserts, like coconut cream and chocolate cream pies. Comfort food for baby boomers. They love to come in for a slice without having to buy the whole thing, or make it themselves.

At work I feast on a buffet of spiraling self-pity. What's your favorite work-time snack?

Lemon bars.

May I take your picture?

Um, no. Why don't you take this lovely picture of Shanon decorating a cupcake instead?
