How did Edible Life come about?

I was a personal chef for six years, and I loved it. But I wanted to expand and offer more families a reason to come home and enjoy dinner. So we've been in operation since March, and we deliver almost anywhere in Seattle.

I notice that you're ridiculously pregnant. Are you the main chef, or do you have a staff helping you?

Right now, it's all me. But I'm about 31 weeks along, so I'm training a few people to help out.

And you design the menus?

Yes. They rotate on a weekly basis, so families can get online and order what they want, and then we deliver the meals to their homes in glass casserole dishes. It's like the old milk-bottle exchange. People leave their dishes out the following week for me to pick up.

Is the menu a slave to your freaky pregnancy cravings?

When I was experiencing morning sickness in February, I may have been, um, inspired by what sounded good...

What is the last great meal you can recall having?

On Fridays we test the upcoming week's menu, and last Friday my entire family was in town, so we had a huge feast. Everyone was eating, laughing, and giving me great feedback. It was a perfect combination of events.
