The best thing about BROKEN BEATS is that each night is organic and genuine. The dancing group Circle of Fire does not have a planned set, which is why some nights are totally hype from beginning to end (about four hours), and some nights feel like things never really get started. I remember one night in particular that never got off the ground, and it devolved into this silly set of chair dancing. The night Reema shot the above photo, however, was absolutely thrilling, with the crowd pressing its energy onto the floor where the dancers defied gravity with strength and grace. However the night goes, it was meant to be that way. Above all, Circle of Fire is sincere. There is a rotating set of DJs, although I personally prefer the fast-paced hiphop of DJ Suspence and/or Soul One (usually the first Monday of each month). The members of Circle of Fire like to think of themselves as "just dancers," not breakdancers, so they keep the music rotating between funk, house, hiphop, and whatever else the DJ fancies.
