Bar Details

  • The Comet's been doing a very fine job of getting people very drunk since 1948; under relatively new ownership, the bar now offers hard liquor along with beer. However, the ceiling still has many dollar bills and playing cards stuck to it, the barstools are still tattered, and the floor of the women's room still has two footprint outlines worn through the linoleum in front of each toilet. The Comet rules.
  • Hours: Daily noon-2 am
  • Happy Hour: Mon-Fri 3-5 pm; Sat-Sun 1-5 pm ($1 tallboys, $2 wells and drafts).
  • Features: Live Music, Happy Hour and Dogs Allowed
  • Scene: Dive and Neighborhood Joint

Whiney Staff

As Far as I'm concerned none of the people at the comet should have a job. All the staff did the whole night was whine and b@#^$ even those i was like basically throwing money at them. Snooty even though it's a S#&% dive bar. I wouldn't go back if the bar tenders were tipping ME!! GREAT music though. Maybe the staff thinks they are hot s*(# but whoever books the bands at this venue make it the only worth while reason for showing up!

Good time in Seattle

Can't say the music was very good. Drinks were plentiful, and the door guy was quite...entertaining/intriguing:) I would go back, especially considering that the place was surrounded by gay bars. Not so much my scene - but the door guy at the Comet will keep my attention.

whats not to love?

Ive seen 'new favorite bands' for the first time at the comet multiple times. They book good shows (generally). The atmosphere is charming without being gimicky and definitely on the 'dive' end of things.

Awesome

Is there a better bar in Seattle for doing nothing but staring at a TV and drowning yourself in oblivion?
