Okay, only 95 percent suck. I journaled my very first tour for a big zine. It was terrible. I had three problems that appear to be universal.
Honesty: Can you tell the truth about wanting to punch your drummer, stealing $28 out of the cash box, fucking the promoter's girlfriend when he was out scoring coke?
Insight: Just because you were there doesn't mean you really understand anything beyond the mechanics. Why should I care? What new information are you giving me?
Story: Can you tell a tour story? Some people can; I am not one of them. You don't want to hear about my police helicopters, skinheads, and puppet shows.

I mostly agree, but I will say... the Victory and Associates one I did for our recent tour I felt went above and beyond the normal parade of mediocrity that passes for a tour journal. At the very least I tried my best to make it a greater meaning. Of course... your mileage may vary:

one day I'll write a tell-all about the first tour I went on in Emeralds. that will be a tour journal worth reading solely for the part where we KILL A FUCKING VULTURE.

That's pretty much why we haven't done one on our last few trips. For the most part, our tours are fairly uneventful these days.

fuckin ass clowns thinking we care about "we went x venue, then it was awesome and dudes were cool, then we slept, then we got up and drove..." Don't care, not even a little bit. tell me what made it awesome, tell me why you chose to play there, tell me something either human or technical or viceral.
