THURSDAY MARCH 11

STEVE KORN GROUP

This drummer-led quintet marks the release of Points in Time (Origin), a swinging, straight-ahead disc stocked with Korn's sometimes lilting and always tasteful fills. Seattle Art Museum, 100 University St, 547-6763, 5:30 pm, free with $7 suggested museum admission.

KAMIKAZE

Don't miss these guerrilla music performances, strategic disturbances, and general public absurdity abutting Seattle's temples of the arts. Also Fri March 12 next to Benaroya Hall at 7:15 pm and Sat March 13 by McCaw Hall at 6:45 pm. Near On the Boards, 100 W Roy St, 7:15 pm, free.

VIV CORRINGHAM

This London-based vocalist improvises with sounds imported into Polestar by microphones placed on the venue's roof and at other nearby outdoor locations. Two locals join Corringham for the second set: instrument inventor Steve Barsotti and violinist Tari Nelson-Zagar, who, with her compadres in Thingsome Q, were splendid at the recent Seattle Improvised Music Festival. Polestar Music Gallery, 1412 18th Ave at E Union St, 329-4224, 8 pm, $8.

FRIDAY MARCH 12

BINAREALITY

A concert of electroacoustic compositions by Bret Battey (his sumptuous On the Presence of Water), Pete Moss, and Jeth Rollins Odom. An overlooked highlight of 2002, Odom's disc, The Absence of Theory, is included with admission. Polestar Music Gallery, 1412 18th Ave at E Union St, 329-4224, 8 pm, $7. SUNDAY MARCH 14

SEATTLE YOUTH SYMPHONY

Commemorating the centenary of Antonin Dvorak's death, this fine orchestra performs the Czech composer's symphonic poem, The Golden Spinning Wheel. Also on the program: Elgar's Enigma Variations and one of the few Richard Strauss pieces that propels me to heaven, the voluptuously orchestrated Four Last Songs of 1948. Benaroya Hall, Third Ave at Union St, 362-2300, 3 pm, $7-$35.

SEATTLE CHAMBER PLAYERS

SCP has recruited composer Chen Yi to concoct a program of chamber music by contemporary Chinese composers. A wise move: Composers usually know about their promising peers and passed-over progenitors before anyone else. Pre-concert talk starts at 6:30 pm. Recital Hall at Benaroya, Third Ave at Union St, 286-5052, 7:30 pm, $12-$22.

MONDAY MARCH 15

MICHAEL WHITE

I savored the rasping moans and chanting clangs of this adventurous violinist's new CD, Voices (Izniz Recordings). White's burgundy tone, funky pizzicati, and easygoing arrangements smartly blend jazz and folk music from around the world. Joining White to celebrate the release of Voices is a quartet of musicians, including Tim Young, whose thoughtful guitar work also graces the disc. Also Wed March 17 at LO_FI performance gallery, 429B Eastlake Ave, 9 pm. Suite G, 513 N 36th St, 632-5656, 9 pm, $7.

WEDNESDAY MARCH 17

WALLY SHOUP, BILL HORIST

Two top Seattle improvisers grace the charming corridor that is Coffee Messiah. Alto saxophonist Shoup's lyrical and lacerating style has roots in punk, the blues, and European free improvisation. Bill Horist treats and tampers his electric guitar with rods, cymbals, and other un-guitarlike objects. Coffee Messiah, 1554 E Olive Way, 861-8233, 7 pm, donation requested.
