Not Bad

The collusion of them adding a dance floor and Tommy's closing has made Dante's go downhill somewhat - and downhill for me means more Greeks per capita. Such is usually fueled by the combination said dance floor/DJ and cheap pitchers of PBR. That said, on any given night, the percentage of frat boys and sorority sisters is far lower here than at, say, the Irish Emigrant (I cry for that place), Finn MacCool's, or no-longer-best-kept-secret Die Bierstube. The multiple levels also cleverly lets multiple kinds of crowds keep to themselves, (although the often-terrible DJ music is WAY too loud on the upper level). Also, it's moderately-priced enough that one can safely skip the Happy Hour, thereby avoiding the questionable crowds. But here's why I go: Good(-enough) food (vegetarian friendly!), good location, friendly staff, and pretty much the only place I know of where I can get seasonal New Belgium beer on tap.

Infernal indeed

I've always loved the name "Dante's," and the classic Elphias Levi baphomet head on the logo is great. But this place is indeed the hellish watering hole/mating ground for stupid frat boys and their ditzy hoors. Why THESE people have been give every advantage never ceases to mystify me.To quote Boyd Rice: "where's Ghengis Khan when we need him?"

Big Place, Good Value

Dante's has staying power. It's been around since the 60's which means that some of your parents actually hooked up there! Its a huge place with lots to do (pool, darts, air hockey) and there's huge HD flatscreens all over. The dance floor and DJ booth are new and live bands play monthly now.

Hot Girls & Good Music

Dante's used to be a tired old sports bar but now it has a dance floor, DJ nights, band nights and new life. There's no cover charge, even on the weekends, and the place has 3 big levels. If you don't like hot college coeds, 80's and Top 40 music then stay in Ballard!

This Place Could Be So Much Better

A really neat, old bar, with aged wood interior and great atmosphere...but best avoided most nights of the weeks, especially the weekends. Could be a really cool place, maybe they should start having live bands instead of DJ music. The back pool room has some super comfy seats. The food is marginal, definitely get a salad instead of the fries. The trivia night used to be fun, but now its too slow and random, the guys in charge kept losing our answers. They haven't gotten any new pinball in there in years, I've been playing Theater of Magic since 1997. Dante's could be really cool if they didn't encourage the Frat Boys to drink with the amazingly cheap pitchers of shtty beer.

FABULOUS PLACE!

They serve AMAZING wings, chicken, and other essential dinner and happy hour meals plus they mix up the music to allow ALL your friends to enjoy themselves. If you are under 30, love to dance, and HOT you will LOVE this place, if not - listen to the rest of the reviewers on here.....

what happened to dante's?

Although the food's still ok -- try the Reuben -- this place has taken a turn for the worse. It used to be like some random bar in Idaho filled with board games, pinball, and pool tables. And pop-a-shot! Now they have a dance floor (usually empty) and crappy dance music that makes it hard to think. Boo!

The New Tommy's!

If you are a fan of bad hip-hop that is poorly DJ'd and date rape, then this is the place for you! Long gone are the days of hanging out with you college buddies after work for Thursday night $2 pitchers, and bring on the girls puking in the bathroom and crying about being pregnant. If you're just looking to get drunk with highly obnoxious and unintelligent people, this is the place for you. This place used to be great. New owners? Who knows. I miss the good 'ole days ... but don't we all.

Well...

I've been there many times because of their cheap pitcher nights but I think things have changed for the worst ever since they added a dance floor. And I love to dance. Hopefully they will get some better music? Maybe you shouldn't listen to me if you are looking for the typical U-Dist. bar. If you like dive bars better go across the street to the Monkey.
