L.I.E.S. SHOWCASE ON A BOAT, BITCH
The great-taste-havers who run local promotional crew High & Tight have roped in some key players from New York City's burgeoning L.I.E.S. label to play on a boat tonight. While you cruise around Lake Union, you can take in the off-kilter tech-house mind-expanders from Steve Summers and Svengalighost. Adventurous music on the water—what a novel concept! With DJ Ron Morelli. Islander Yacht, boards 7–11 pm, $20 adv/$25 DOS, 21+.
DROP GETS THE REVENGE ON SCOTTISH DISCO
For this edition of the DROP monthly, Innerflight links with City Soul to enlist Scottish nu-disco producer/DJ the Revenge (aka Graeme Clark). If you prefer your disco to be non-kitsch, to go deeper than your college philosophy prof, and to flirt with the weird, dark side of the genre, the Revenge is your bold, deviant guide. With Justice & Treasure, Eugene Fauntleroy, Miss Shelrawka, and Innerflight resident DJs. Lo-Fi Performance Gallery, 9 pm–3 am, $10 before 10:30 pm/$13 after, 21+.
MOTOR SHIFTS INTO SECOND GEAR WITH AIRPORT, MOOD ORGAN, PATTERNMASTER
Debacle Records boss Sam Melancon's new Motor event is shaping up to be one of the city's most interesting electronic-music nights. Reflecting his label's experimental bent, Motor presents two members of local psych-rock greats Midday Veil in their moonlighting, synth-wielding guises: Mood Organ (aka Timm Mason) and Airport (Jayson Kochan). The former evokes alien insectoid chatter and spacey vistas with rigorously honed drones similar to those of Popol Vuh's Florian Fricke and Between's Peter Michael Hamel; the latter delves into acidic, cosmic disco that's as strange as it is sexy. Patternmaster (Jon Carr) is branching out into a potent strain of visceral, squelchy techno that makes sense if you know his work in the deeply psychedelic Brain Fruit. With HOM and DJ Slow. Lo-Fi Performance Gallery, 9 pm, free, 21+.
THE THUGGISH FINESSE OF UK D&B LEGEND ANDY C
For 20 years, British drum 'n' bass DJ/producer Andy C has been crushing sternums and pummeling pelvises with tracks that roll and growl with thuggish finesse. Both as a solo artist and as part of Ram Trilogy, Mr. C has created some of the genre's hardest and most ornery cuts while maintaining superb quality control. Prepare for a wicked beatdown. With Downlink and MC Armanni Reign. Showbox at the Market, 8 pm, $20 adv/$25 DOS, all ages.
