HEAR HIEROGLYPHIC BEING RADICALLY RENOVATE HOUSE MUSIC

For as long as I live, I'll always regard Hieroglyphic Being's 2013 Debacle Fest set as a kind of live-electronic-music zenith. As I've written before, he somehow conjoined the supernaturally strange analog-synth textures of Conrad Schnitzler with the way-out-there jazz improv of Sun Ra, but within a radical house-music context. It was an unpredictable, riveting, and constantly evolving performance in a manner that made most of his peers seem like stunted dullards. Hieroglyphic Being (Chicago producer Jamal Moss) has a huge and varied catalog from which to draw, and of all the fantastic MOTOR nights there've been, it would be a solid bet to say this one will surpass them all. With Patternmaster and AOS. Kremwerk, 9 pm, $10, 21+.

SINDEN'S DARK TECHNO SNEAKS INTO MAINSTREAM CONSCIOUSNESS

Diplo's made some dubious decisions with his Mad Decent label over the years, but signing Sinden wasn't one of them. He's the one artist on that roster taking techno to darker places than most of your big-festival panderers. Sinden also records for Fool's Gold and Boysnoize, somehow convincing the folks who run these populist companies that his strange productions belong there. On Night Visions, his recent collab with Pilo, Sinden heads into funky-breaks territory with the same zeal for odd textures and tough rhythms. With Astronomar and DJ Fierro. Barboza, 8 pm, $12 adv, 21+.

HOLY GHOST!'S SPARKLY DISCO CONFECTIONS

DFA Records' über-slick pop-disco duo Holy Ghost! roll through town to add even more sparkle to the glittery Q Nightclub. If you find Chromeo to be too rough-edged, Holy Ghost! will be your jam—although maybe when they DJ, which they're doing tonight, they swing wilder? Let's hope so. With Blueyedsoul and Mikey Mars. Q Nightclub, 9 pm, $10 adv/$12 DOS, 21+.

SUNDAY 9/21

RAICA WEIRDS UP SONARCHY RADIO

Co-owner of Further Records, one of Seattle's most fascinating labels, Raica (aka Chloe Harris) has been releasing a slew of outstanding recordings of her own over the last few years. Her latest, Leeft, is a cassette featuring two 22-minute tracks that roam around the outer fringes of ambient, noise, abstract techno, and Eduard Artemyev–esque soundtracking. This is take-you-on-a-weird-journey music, a hallucinatory procession of sounds from a restlessly inventive mind. Sonarchy's usually a strange show, but with Raica playing live on it, many radio listeners are gonna be seriously disoriented. KEXP, midnight, 90.3 FM (Seattle), kexp.org. recommended
