FRIDAY 2/11

SF MNML TECHNO CREW FROM 0-1

Justin "Milkplant" Pennell—who started his From 0-1 label in Seattle about four years ago—moved to San Francisco in 2009, but he still has his tentacles in our city, as evidenced by this record-release party for the Pet the Ceiling 12-inch by Ctrl_Alt_Dlt (aka Stranger music intern Chris Aldrich). With Milkplant's roots in Cleveland and Milwaukee and Ctrl_Alt_Dlt's in Detroit, these DJ/producers naturally gravitate toward the Midwest's dark, stark style of techno. Their sets consist of heady, psychedelic tracks that wring maximal power from minimal elements. Support comes from Sone and T. Shade. Details for an afterparty featuring Rubidium, Miss Shelrawka, Murdoc, and Albert will be revealed at the event. Conserve your energy, because these cats have advanced degrees in raging. Re-bar, 10 pm, $10, 21+.

MUSHROOM JAZZ JOCK MARK FARINA

Mark Farina seemingly comes through Seattle about twice a year, so it's kind of easy to become blasé about this super-competent DJ/producer. But try not to let that happen. He has seven volumes of the popular Mushroom Jazz mix series under his turntable belt, but Farina's as renowned for his sophisticated, funky house sets as he is for MJ's downtempo seductions. Reliably on-point local dance-floor eclectics SunTzu Sound warm up things. Neumos, 9 pm, $15, 21+.

SATURDAY 2/12

MY BLOODY VALENTINE IS SHAMELESS WITH SANTIAGO & BUSHIDO

Chicago's Santiago & Bushido are dance-floor-exciters par excellence. Coming out of their hometown's revered house-music hotbed, S&B add crucial lashings of wonky textures, ebullient energy, and fidgety funk to the venerable template. They usually ratchet up the peak moments to the point where you think they can't possibly squeeze any more euphoria from an effects knob or an ascending synth line, but then they somehow do—over and over. Which makes Santiago & Bushido perfect accomplices for local party organizers Shameless's eighth annual My Bloody Valentine bacchanal. Bonus activity: A heart-shaped piñata will be smashed at midnight. With Mozaic, Kid Hops, 214, Recess & Levi Clark, Adlib, Joe Bellingham, and others. Proceeds will benefit Lifelong AIDS Alliance. Fred Wildlife Refuge, 9 pm– 4 am, $10–$18, 21+.
