WEDNESDAY 5/18

POIRIER'S GRIMY DANCEHALL/ELECTRO

Montreal's Ghislain Poirier ranks as one of the world's foremost proponents of grimy dancehall/soca/electro fusions. His tropical, supersonic booty music is full of heartbeat-disrupting beats and bass frequencies, and rambunctious, gravel-voiced male toasting. You need to consume a case of Monster Energy Drink to keep up with it. LA's Juakali joins him on the mic for this show. With Kid Hops, Diggaboo, and Ah Karu. Baltic Room, 9 pm, $5, 21+.

FRIDAY 5/20

EVIL EDDIE RICHARDS'S WICKED TECHNO

The smart guys behind the Get Down got UK DJ Evil Eddie Richards, an old pro at moving crowds with soulful, hypnotic, psychedelic house and techno music. Respect to one of the first Brits to push this sound. With Murdoc, Ctrl_Alt_Dlt, Neiro, and Karl K. Neighbours Underground, 9 pm, $10, 21+.

SALVA'S COMPLEX HOUSE

The Drop monthly hosts SF's Salva, whose Complex Housing album takes house music through some interesting rhythmic change-ups (dubstep, Brainfeeder-ish hiphop) and keeps the mood unsappily euphoric—a tough feat to pull off. With Adam Houghton vs. Andrew Luck, Recess, and Inner Flight resident DJs. Lo-Fi Performance Gallery, 9 pm, $10, 21+.

SATURDAY 5/21

PUT YOUR TRUST IN SCUBA

The popular monthly dance party TRUST scores big with its booking of English DJ/producer Scuba (aka Paul Rose). As owner of Hotflush Recordings and resident selector at the Sub:Stance night in Berlin's Berghain club, Scuba has proved himself to be one of the world's most clued-in tastemakers of future-bass music. That keen sensibility surfaces in his own productions, which fuse dubstep and techno rhythms into complex yet danceable tracks. This music works well in clubs, but also contains enough atmospheric and melodic scintillations to make for pleasurable headphone listening. With Kid Hops and SunTzu Sound. Baltic Room, 9 pm, $15, 21+.

MONDAY 5/23

PANABRITE & HARPOON POLE VAULT, HOBO CUBES

Panabrite has been getting a lot of Stranger love lately, but sometime collaborator Harpoon Pole Vault has been conspicuously absent from this column. Amends time. HPV is a solo project of Brother Raven synthesizer maestro Jason E. Anderson in which he explores in luxurious detail the space-dusted realms where OG new age drifts into early 1980s experimental electronics. Hobo Cubes—Montreal producer Francesco Gallo—creates awesome psychedelic ARPscapes that set your eyes spiraling in slow motion. Make a beeline to Sipping on Acid Surf on Hobo Cubes' Bandcamp page for optimal brain tickling. With Femminielli and Das Amore with JLK. Josephine, 9 pm, www.myspace.com/thejosephine.
