DeLaurenti has sold amazing cheeses, wines, and specialty foods at the corner of First and Pike in the Pike Place Market for approximately 1,000 years. If you like to eat and drink, it is way too easy to spend way too much money at this Seattle institution; they have more than 250 kinds of cheese, nine kinds of prosciutto, grazillions of different shapes of pasta, a wall of olive oil, artisan breads galore, chocolate ditto... At the cafe, there's Macrina and Le Panier pastries (the best), Caffé Umbria coffee (excellent), cured-meat sandwiches, and more—check the website for today's soup, panini, and pizza specials.

The great DeLaurenti Specialty Food & Wine in Pike Place Market offers free wine tastings upstairs in their wine department every Saturday, and—bonus!—the nice people there pair the selections with some of their more than 250 kinds of cheese, samples from their wall of olive oils, and other assorted tastinesses. Past tastings have included ports paired with Stilton cheese and (separately) Veuve Cliquot champagne (!). Check their website to find out which wines they'll be uncorking.
