This is to the asswipe who ran over the mother duck. I don't know, maybe it's just me, but when I drive by a park that has a pond, I tend to keep an eye on the road to ensure that I don't run over some unsuspecting duck. But you didn't even slow down! As I drove on the opposite side of the street, I saw the feathers fly and the panicked ducklings scramble for the safety of the sidewalk.

I pulled over; I called an animal rescue group; and I waited for an hour with the bleeding, shocked duck and her babies. And to animal rescue, who never felt the need to show up, how can you be devoted to wild-animal rescue if don't do the operative RESCUE? As I sat there on the sidewalk waiting, the lyrics "be kind to your web-footed friends, they might be somebody's mother" kept running through my mind.

So, to all you other drivers out there, and especially the one who ran over the aforementioned duck and her family, watch the road--and when you see an animal crossing, give them the right of way.
