Tucked inside one of Seattle's best record stores is an eclectic little rock 'n' roll cafe that serves up hearty breakfast items such as the Johnny Cash Special, James Browns, Horton Heat Hash and Francis Farmer French Toast. I like the spicy, chorizo-driven Los Lobos, with salsa and eggs. The service is generally pretty good. The servers are all fashionable punk rockers, sassy with tattoos, piercings and crazy hair, which doesn't seem to bother the seniors and the stroller crowd, though, as they often outnumber the hipsters, giving the place a neighborhood vibe. West Seattle does not have many quality options for breakfast, so it can get very busy on the weekends, with half-hour wait times. But it goes by fast. I usually kill the time by grabbing an espresso and then head upstairs to the used section, which has literally thousands of CDs, DVDs and records, most of which you can listen to beforehand, making it easier to experiment with the unknown. The cafe is a bit grimy, like last night's rock club, but it's passable, especially if you're starving. All in all, a good experience and highly recommended if you're into discovering new music.
