Elles: SAM—Singular Works by Seminal Women Artists
Wednesdays-Sundays. Continues through Feb. 17 2013
Seattle Art Museum, 1300 First Ave
Conversations about art history often lead to someone posing the hypothetical question; what would the canon look like if you took away the men? We get to see what this thought experiment looks like in reality. Echoing what the Pompidou did in Paris, SAM reinstalls its own modern and contemporary collection rooms using only works by female artists. This includes two great shows-within-shows, of the works of Yayoi Kusama and Victoria Haven, among other highlights.
