The following telephone exchange involves many exclamation points!!!—Megan Seling

JONAH BERGMAN: Hi Andrew! So let me tell you I am not a journalist; I am a rock-and-roll bass player.

ANDREW W.K.: Okay, great. Excellent. You play bass, you said?

JB: I play bass and I scream. And go completely insane. Or I try.

AWK: Cool!

JB: Whenever we're on tour we eat at Cracker Barrel as much as humanly possible. Tell me about your favorite places to grab a bite to eat.

AWK: I've enjoyed eating there. I have a friend named Rat Bastard who really prides himself on knowing good places to eat around the country. He's taken me to some good places, one of them was a Thai food restaurant and I think it was in Ohio... oh no, it was an Indian food place, actually.

JB: Indian in Ohio? You wouldn't think of Ohio to be a good place for Indian food... That song from your website, "You Will Remember Tonight," has been blowing my mind.

AWK: I'm really glad you like it, thanks very much for saying that! But let's see... I have some questions for you. I'd like to know what you think about some ideas here. Would you say that today you've had a level of anxiety that you normally have or was it less than you normally have or was it more than you normally have, if you even are able to look at it like that.

JB: I've really been looking forward to this interview and I kinda got the same feeling that I do before a show. It's not really an anxiety per say, but kind of like this energy... I'm sure you've felt this, where you're sitting there backstage and you want to get out there onstage and you just wanna go do it. That's kind of what I've been feeling today.

AWK: I love that feeling. That's a very particular feeling. I've thought about it a lot. It's interesting to me as well because I don't feel that feeling very often before I perform, but I feel it when I go to see other people perform. I can only hope other people are feeling that at events I'm involved with because that's a huge part of the entertainment experience.

JB: I go to as many [shows] as I can, and it's easy to get jaded sometimes, but when you go see an act that really gives you that feeling, it's amazing and that's the beauty of music, I think.

AWK: I admire you for having the energy and focus required to go to a lot of concerts and approach each one as 'I'm gonna give this the chance to make me feel awesome.'

JB: I have a couple other goofier questions for you. I'm a huge fan of ice cream. If there was an AWK Ben & Jerry's flavor, what would it be?

AWK: I like this question a lot. I really love that pure vanilla, but you know what it would be? Here's my idea, and I think it's a pretty good idea: It would be tapioca ice cream, like tapioca pudding that's frozen, with crumbled up animal crackers in it.

JB: Oh man, that would be killer. My other question is, what do you think an Andrew W.K. video game would be like? What would be your powers?

AWK: I think it'd be fun to fly around, for sure. Flying around the earth and into space... you'd be able to fly wherever you wanted, and really fast. So it'd be like a racing game, but not a competition. You're just trying to fly without running into stuff, maybe.

JB: One request: Will you sing "You Will Remember Tonight" with me? Over the phone? Because we both will remember tonight.

AWK: Do you want to take it from the first verse? You can count it off.

JB and AWK (singing): I will remember tonight (you will remember toniiiiight) /I will remember tonight (you will remember tonight)... /For the rest of your liiiife, you will remember tonight!

AWK: Whoa, that was cool.
