Masterminded by Travis Kukull, formerly at Tilikum Place Cafe
, Gastropod occupies Epic Ales' tiny, clubhouse-style tasting room in Sodo and has a short but fascinating menu, which might include miso/black garlic–baked Hama Hama oysters; roasted Brussels sprout okonomiyaki with soy truffle emulsion; and duck/goose/pork/lamb crepinette in phyllo. The not-all-that-small plates are, in general, goddamned great (and a really good value), and the Epic beers are interesting and generally wonderful (and also inexpensive) too.
