If you don't like this restaurant, you are on drugs

I truly do not understand anyone that does not like this restaurant. I will give you the fact that it is usually busy and it is not the place to go if you are in a hurry. That being said, the other qualities that are embodied by this restaurant so far out weight the drawbacks that it is almost laughable. I work in a career that has me and my coworkers travel around the greater Seattle area all the time. We liked to eat breakfast a lot, so we decided that we should start a restaurant evaluation system. We started rating breakfast restaurants on the food, service, coffee, atmosphere, and intangibles. Over a period of three years, we rated more than 30 restaurants. Of all the restaurants we rated, Glo's came out on top. The corn beef hash is the best I have ever had. I have had just about everything on the menu many times. The freshness of the ingredients is excellent. The coffee is really good and the people are great. If you want to beat the crowds, go in the early morning or about 2pm. There truly is no better breakfast in Seattle.

I eat breakfast for lunch all over Seattle and the Eastside and Glo's is at the top of my list. Sure you have to wait, sure it's more expensive, and over the years the service has varied from dispassionate to attentive, but the food has always ROCKED. No other breakfast restaurant has corn beef hash like Glo's, no other place puts spices like garlic into their omelettes, they even put lemon in their water glasses. They always serve strong coffee, and that's how I like it. If you want a latte Starbucks is across the street! Thank you Robert and company and long live Glo!

Uh...don't hate on the Glo's!

I've heard so much about this place, but had only ventured once to go and it was too busy to get in. This past Monday morning, however, two of my best friends and myself waited only 5 minutes before getting a window seat. I must admit that although our meal took almost two hours from start to finish, I understood because there was only one waitress serving the entire restaurant. Whereas the previous complainers/bitchers/whiners saw this as a detriment to service, I applaud this waitress for accomplishing quite the task. The entire place was full with a line out the door, even. And although we waited nearly an hour for our food, we understood that as well because everything was delicious. I had the spanish omelette, one of my friends had the oatmeal and fruit, while the other friend had the corned beef hash. We all loved every bite (the only exception being the "wheat" toast, which was quite white. Bygones) and didn't complain once about the wait. WE APPRECIATE GOOD FOOD BECAUSE OFTENTIMES IT COMPENSATES FOR WAITING. All the previous complainers could learn a thing or two from patience. Just sayin.

Dont waste a lot of your time

I love a greasy, simple, and hearty breakfast as much as anyone. Ive been scouring Seattle for the best places for years. I kept seeing the ridiculous lines outside Glo's and had no choice but to give it a shot. Ive given Glo's several shots in fact. I can sum up my opinion of those meals in two words, it sucked. I dont understand why anyone would want to eat here. The wait is insane on the weekends, food is barely even average, if not just bad, and the service is a joke. I felt ill as well after, maybe just because of the reality that I paid for the experience. No, it was the food. My most terrible (and last ever) experience was mid-week. We still had to wait even though there were open tables. We had a waitress bent on being as big a bitch as possible and waited about an hour to get our food, even though there wasnt even a lot of tables. The food sucked, I couldnt even eat it. Even the toast was gross, how do you fuck up toast?!? All I have to say is dont waste your time, go to B and O across the street, or anywhere else.

Long lines, usually worth the wait

Well except a long wait if your going on the weekends, and any holiday for that matter. Wait can be up to a few hours. I would have to admit I have waited that long a couple times over the years. The food is very good, not amazing, but very good. The service is... good. It has charm, good specials. If your not in a rush, take a seat outside and wait. If you are, move on and stop complaining about the wait. You know what your getting yourself into. Good food, small place, decent service. All in all I will keep on coming.

not so good...

The food is so salty I couldn't eat half of my omlette...and was sick for hours. It took 45min to get our food. I had to go to the kitchen to get my own tea!

just not worth it

long lines are normal, esp. on the weekend in seattle. but to wait an hour for the food is not. i'm a cook and i have to say that glo's kitchen is the slowest damn kitchen i've ever had the pleasure to witness. are they stupid? on drugs? are they pissed off at everyone? not only will i not go back but i'm telling all my freinds to never give them a dime. they need a new staff or qwner or both.

wait... then wait some more!

My boyfriend and I came here early on a Saturday afternoon.. there was a 20 minute wait, which is fine.. The menu is pretty extensive for a place so small, but I believe the specials are the way to go. Our server took our order with no emotion, using as few words as possible and running away pretty quickly. We had ordered coffeecake, but our server forgot it. When we did get our entrees (about an 40 minutes later) everything was great! The food was pretty damn tasty, but still no coffeecake (and I was still craving it). I was able to catch our server before she ran away again and let her know we still wanted the coffeecake. She said, "Oh..." as if she was disappointed, but said nothing else. Someone else eventually brought our coffeecake, which was mediocre at best. I had 3 cups of coffee after sitting down, but waited about 15-20 mins between cups. I had to flag someone down for one of the refills. Glo's is probably a great little place during the week when there isn't a wait, but during the weekends it seems like they are porly understaffed.. or their servers need to be reminded they're making their money for good service.

Enjoy a good jog after breakfast?

I ate at Glo's for the first time yesterday with a friend and really enjoyed it until about 20 minutes afterwards when we were both literally running home to the restroom. Sorry to get graphic here but something is wrong when 2 people, eating 2 different meals at a restaurant both get violently ill within 20 min of eating there-FYI.

Love to Hate it

The place is tiny and the wait can be up to an hour, but the food is so worth it. There is always a long line waiting outside, and "friends" of the staff seem to get seated ahead of the rest, but as annoying as all this may be, they have the best vegetarian biscuits and gravy on earth!

where's my latte?

All you need to know to fully understand Glo's is this: they don't do espresso. Get it? Simple, no frills breakfast. Pancakes are pancakes, eggs are eggs. But done well, what else do you need? OK, so maybe a few frills -- you can probably get an omelette stuffed with "exotic" items like avacodos. And yes, they do have plenty of coffee. You can drink as much as you want and get way more buzzed than you would if you had a $3 latte. I don't think they're trying to make any kind of statement about Seattle's espresso oversaturation -- looks to me like the place is just too small to fit an espresso machine.

oh, breakfast

how i love thee? haven't been disappointed here. it's just delicious if you feel like traditional breakfast with no fancy cheeses or spices. it's the menu you grew up with... only way way better. a friend said he had best eggs benedict of his life here.
