We love Gorditos !!!!

Feb 19, 2010 This place is great !!!!

We loved the unique flavors, you don't get these flavors in any other Mexican restaurant around here.

The wet burrito fajita style was our favorite next to the prawn fajita quesadilla with the green tamaillo sauce.

The staff was friendly and fast.

Again, we love Gorditos !!!

usually very good but inconsistent...

I've been going to Gorditos since it opened across the street from it's current location about 12 or 13 years ago. When it's good, it's great- but every so often it can be pretty awful. The carne asada is simple and tasty and the chicken is usually quite good. Still, every so often, you can get a pile of garbage wrapped up in a tortilla. One trick: don't go too early for dinner. Seems to be the worst time for the cooks.

Hello taste? Are you in there.

I've given Gorditos so many chances in the time I've lived within a few blocks and It just doesn't work. Yes, the Burritos are HUGE but the Carne Asada is pretty chewy and tasteless. The Chicken, well, it doesn't taste like a grill or marinade or anything. Tastes like is was baked dry and thrown in a tortilla. You can get the burritos slathered in bland sauce which doesn't help the flavor or sour cream (hey at least it tastes like it should). I know of two taco/burrito shops within 3 blocks of here that are INFINITELY better.

Nothing short of awful

Our family is vegetarian and we were looking forward to a night out for some raved-about Mexican food. i wish we had stayed home. The beans (which were the primary ingredient in 3 of our meals) were flavorless other than SALT. My 9 year old (who can normally consume almost anything) actually said the beans were so salty that he couldn't eat them. The rest of us agreed after about 3 bites. The rice was acceptable. The cheese nachos were ok, but nothing to talk about. We ended up throwing away nearly $30 worth of food because it was inedible. Never again will we waste our time or money on this place. 1 star because they don't have 0 stars option.

Get full for less scrilla

I'm no mexican food expert, but i find it surprising how low this place is rated here. C'mon, it's mexican food that doesn't make you feel sick once you're done eating. Everything's cooked fresh without a bunch of lard and you can feed off of one of their super burritos for almost 3 days for about $6-7.

I like Mexican food

Probably the best Mexican food place I've found so far, though nothing compares to back home (though back home did border Mexico). The borritos are huge and tasty. Good options for vegetarians (I haven't had anything with meat there so I can't comment on it), and the ingredients are fresh. It's delicious and doesn't make you feel sick afterwards.

Great spot.

It's still a bargain even with their recent price hike. The chicken tacos are not quite as good as they used to be. I liked the charred flavor, but they don't seem to be doing that as much. The free salsa bar rocks and the staff is always pleasant.

luv it luv it!!

I love mexican food and this place has awesome food. As far as romantic atmosphere goes though it's not too good. I wouldn't want to go there on a date but they have great food.

Do not understand the hype

I have lived mere blocks from this place for nearly eight years and have thought it was bad from the get-go. Everyone tells me how lucky I am to live so near and to those people I say, ha!! The *only* thing this place has going for it is portion size/dollar spent. If that's enough for you, then more power to you.

Big and cheap

$5 gets you the biggest burrito you've ever seen, bigger than Chipotle or anything else. I get it without sour cream or cheese, and no sides, and I still can barely finish it. And it's GOOD, the ingredients fresh. It's a bit musty over in Greenwood in the summer and the counter is a bit chaotic during weekends, but you've got to try the big burritos. Split one if your stomach capacity's not that big.

ABitOnTheMessySide

While Gordito's advertises it's food as being "healthy", well, to me, it is quite messy, with tons of cheese, and accompanying greasyness. The portions are huge, one can get a burrito that is insanely big to eat - but to me, it is hard to call this place healthy, particularly for a vegetarian. And they say they don't allow substitutes on the menu - no fun for us non-sour creme fans on some menu items...

Fallen out of favor with me

I loved the place when it was new but have come to develop a distaste for the charred flavor of all their grilled fillings. Just gives me heartburn now (but I'm old now). If you don't mind charred foods then it's very good. And all portions are larger than your head. I've switched exclusively to Tacos Guaymas.

I Love Gorditos

I've been going to Gorditos for years and it's always been perfect. Super cheap, big portions and healthy. I love the salsa bar, yummy. Favorites are the tofu burrito and the veggie veggie burrito. Staff are always friendly and service is quick.

Nothing short of perfect

Maybe not the fanciest place in the world but the food is always excellent, the place is fun to eat at and its super inexpensive. Its the perfect place. Every memory I have of eating there is wonderful.
