The Black Eyed Peas

The Black Eyed Peas once came into the War Room when I worked there. They were bad tippers. Last Sunday, they were the most interesting part of the Super Bowl, but not in a good way. Even with the Auto-Tune at max power, Fergie and will.i.am were embarrassing to our country—maybe even more than the questions Bill O'Reilly asked Obama earlier that day. At least they could have flashed us some T&A like Janet or crotched the stage-left camera like Bruce.

Sasquatch! Launch Party at Showbox at the Market

Lindy West and I arrived after Mad Rad's set on Sunday night (I was live-Slogging the Super Bowl, give me a break), but I have since been informed by a comment on Line Out that Mad Rad "owned" Das Racist. My only question: Dear Live Nation, whose bright idea was it to schedule this thing on a Sunday night and after the dang Super Bowl? Drunkenness was at a maximum. Concertgoers reported witnessing acts of dry humping on the main room floor. The men's bathroom featured a giant stream of urine trickling out of a misused stall. What appeared to be the world's most annoying street team—sorority-ish-looking girls in neon and pastel-colored clothing—did the Worm on the beer-soaked floor in the elevated bar. In the "VIP" section, a bottle of Budweiser cost $5 and Lindy could not taste any gin in her gin and tonic, but it's all good, because the Popchips girl accosted me as soon as I entered. (Her: "Have you ever tried Popchips? Me: "Yes." Her: "Would you like some right now?" Me: "No.") But I digress: HOW ON GOD'S GREEN EARTH DO YOU CHARGE $5 FOR A 12-OUNCE BOTTLE OF BUDWEISER? I guess you do it because suckers who are there on a Sunday night waiting to post the Sasquatch! lineup will buy them. By the time Das Racist's set ended, they finally made the announcement: "Foo Fighters, Death Cab for Cutie, Modest Mouse, Wilco, the Flaming Lips (performing The Soft Bulletin and more), the Decemberists, Bright Eyes, Iron and Wine, Rodrigo y Gabriela, Bassnectar, Robyn, Flogging Molly, Death from Above 1979, Pink Martini, Cold War Kids, Old 97's, Ratatat, Wolf Parade, Chromeo, Guided by Voices, Yeasayer, Beach House, Sharon Jones & the Dap-Kings, Local Natives, Matt & Kim, Deerhunter, MSTRKRFT, Trailer Park Boys, Sleigh Bells, Major Lazer, Flying Lotus, Skrillex, Tokyo Police Club, Fitz and the Tantrums, !!!, Archers of Loaf, Against Me!, the Thermals, Best Coast, CSS, Surfer Blood, Jenny and Johnny, Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, the Head and the Heart, Bonobo, City and Colour, Reggie Watts, K-Os, Gayngs, Tim Minchin, the Drums, the Radio Dept, Young the Giant, the Antlers, Sharon Van Etten, Villagers, Stornoway, Aloe Blacc, Black Mountain, Moondoggies, Noah and the Whale, Sam Roberts Band, Secret Sisters, Twin Shadow, Das Racist, Wye Oak, Tig Notaro, Wheedle's Groove, Smith Westerns, Rival Schools, Foster the People, Alberta Cross, S.
