Copper Cart Cafe

113 Bell St, 239-0830

Description: A warehouse-style cafe/nightclub/wonderland in Belltown.

Namesake: According to the owner, post–World War II restaurateurs reverted to street vending while their businesses were rebuilt. Copper was scarce and valuable following the war, so a copper-top food cart always indicated high-end cuisine.

Hallmarks of the modern-day Copper Cart: Giant sports-broadcasting television screens, throbbing dance beats, and the availability of bar-food basics at mid-range prices.

Why you shouldn't bring the baby: Nighttime brings a messy scene, with women obviously roving for hot beef injections and a hint of aggression in the air (a bouncer was shot in the hand a year ago).

Why you should come for happy hour: $5 mini pitchers, holding just over three pints of various fancy beers (Stella, Hoegaarden, Widmer Hefeweizen, and more).

Happy hours: Sun–Wed 4 pm–close, Thurs–Sat 4–9 pm.

Happy-hour drink specials: $3 glass/$10 bottle house wine, $3 glass/$16 bottle champagne, $5 martinis and wells, $5–$6 select cocktails, $3 pint/$5 pitcher (Alaskan Amber), $5 bottle (Coors Light).

Happy-hour food specials: A menu of appetizers and flatbread pizza ($5 nachos grande, $8 Italian classic pizza).
