I Bet You Didn't Know...

You can still find Seattle scenesters who own white-on-black T-shirts advertising a long-gone grocery atop Queen Anne Hill, the "S&M Market." The '80s notoriety of the name aside, it was your basic wholesome mom-and-pop food mart, complete with open-air produce bins outside. And even hefty T-shirt sales couldn't help the store compete against the neighborhood's expanding supermarkets, or prevent its landlord from evicting it to make room for a Starbucks
