RAINIER VALLEY: Accusations of racism are flying around the neighborhood, as the debate over whether CASA Latina should move into the old Chubby & Tubby building on Rainier Avenue rages on. The standoff is so tense that the city has stepped in, appointing a mediator to help resolve the dispute. WEST SEATTLE: On Friday, March 11, West Seattle High School hosted a pro and con panel on the Iraq War, inviting speakers like Marine Corps Major Terry Thomas. Three days later, Thomas wrote a vitriolic letter (you can read it at www.thestranger.com/specials/vitriolicletter.html) to the Seattle School Board, complaining about "anti-troops" propaganda he says he witnessed in the school auditorium prior to the debate, from blood-splattered cutouts of "dead women and children" to adults dressed in orange Abu Ghraib-style jumpsuits. Thomas demanded a meetIn Ohtering with the school board, and a public apology for the "ugly spectacle." QUEEN ANNE: Single shoppers from Trader Joe's stores around the city have finally set a date--they're meeting at a Wallingford bar on March 30. Meanwhile, the web-based group (http://groups.yahoo.com/group/traderjoeslove/) has prompted single dog-park devotees and single KEXP listeners to form their own online gatherings. --AJ
