Green star La Bête (Capitol Hill)

1802 Bellevue Ave
Seattle, WA 98122
(206) 329-4047

The beautiful former Chez Gaudy space—a 1927 brick building tucked away on Capitol Hill's Bellevue Avenue—got a renovation and a very worthy tenant with La Bête. The space feels a little old-fashioned, intimate and pretty, but not at all precious; the Northwest-ingredient-focused cuisine is made by Aleks Dimitrijevic (Bouley, Harvest Vine, and Licorous). Of note: the alchemical handmade pork rinds and the banana split—and in between, it's hard to go wrong. One way to decide: Everybody here looks, surreptitiously or openly, at what everybody else is getting, in the way that the non-food-obsessed check out other people's dates. And on Mondays, the menu roves to cuisines like Indian or Mexican, and the results are generally as good or better than the best in town. A lot of chefs eat at La Bête on their nights off.

Not a bad bite yet

Amiable, knowledgeable service. Super-cute décor. Did the prix fixe the first time and the salmon special the second. Everything has been exceptional and more than reasonably priced.
Only out of town idiots would fault the restaurant for not having adequate parking. The same type of people who order the hamburger, ask for it medium well, and ask for different condiments than listed on the menu.

This little gem is such a wonderful addition to the neighborhood! There is a burger if you wanna keep it casual and relatively cheap, or you can go a little more fancy with the delicious well thought out main course items. I like to pop in for oysters and a cocktail from time to time and watch they boys work their magic in the kitchen at the open kitchen bar. Their salads are also super fresh and wonderful! Parking is a bitch but well worth it in my opinion!

not worth the parking hassle

Everything we ordered was overpriced and lacking in cooking expertise=very amateurish. I can't believe how pretentious the menu is and that Seattleites think this restaurant's food is good!Their food truly lowers the bar for excellence in dining IMO.
