Okay, enough with the goddamn Verizon commercials! I can't turn on the radio, walk down the street, or even retreat to the safety of my dreams without hearing "My Humps"—must it be on while I'm trying to watch The Shield? And the one where the dumb bowler guy is listening to the Fugees' "comeback" single, "Take It Easy"? Totally uncalled for. Yo, why play them out before they even get a chance to drop their shitty album?

While on the topic of "humps," do hit up Pioneer Square's Wild Palms every single Hump Day. Hopefully you were in the house March 22 and caught Los Angelenos 2mex and Xoloxinco, that is, mufuckin' OMD (Of Mexican Descent), rocking along with local faves Alpha P at the Wednesday weekly, which is incidentally promoted by the homie Asun, of Alpha P/Project Mayhem, AKA the mayor of Westlake. Fall thru and sample the flavor for yourself.

Y'know, the good thing about Flavor of Love is that it centers around Willie "Flavor Flav" Drayton, so, he being a rapper and all (sort of), I can justify discussing it here. That said, isn't it a little weird to see a bunch of young ladies vie for the affections of a fortysomething hypeman with no table manners and a five-pound clock around his goddamn neck? Do they really think he's crazy paid, or that he owns the mansion that they film that silly shit in? Damn... anyway, out of the two finalists, Flav ended up picking "Hoopz," who had the edge over her rival "New York," in that she at least looked like a biological woman, and didn't appear to be completely effin crazy. Two questions: Are Flavor and Hoopz still an item, and will this do anything for Public Enemy's kinda booty new LP, Rebirth of a Nation? Look, Oakland's Black Panther MC Paris was the shit back in the day, but just 'cause he shares politics with Chuck D and company don't mean he's gotta produce the whole damn thing, and write all of Chuck's rhymes; beats were never his strong point, and Chuck D being one of the most commanding MCs ever, it's a little weird to hear him utilize a ghostwriter. Ah well, you know what time it is.

It's about time you got your ass over to Des Amis on Thursday, March 23. There, you can catch Oldominion's fiery sistas Siren's Echo, dRED.i, big brothers almighty Silent Lambs Project, and bonafide 206 legend Silver Shadow D. I remember hearing the infamous Shad-D do the "Diggin' in the Crates" segment on Street Sounds back in the day—cat put me up on old-school shit like Galt McDermott and the like. Plus, he's nice on the beats, with the rhymes—don't sleep, youngsters!

Yo, last but not least, check out those fly J Dilla tribute shirts at www.ohword.com, and while ya at it, order a few—100 percent of the proceeds go to his mother, Maureen Yancey. Hurry up!
