Green star Oliver's Twist (Greenwood)

The cocktails here include the Miss Nancy, made of gin/rhubarb-tarragon syrup/lemon/orange bitters/bubbly, and the Sowerberry, which features elderflower syrup. The food's made in a tiny kitchen, and the plates are small, but the flavors are big with duck fat, anchovy butter, various vinaigrettes... The garlic truffled popcorn is an explosion of buttery, dirty, salty goodness on the tongue, flavored with both truffle oil and truffle salt, offset nicely by a little flat-leaf parsley. It's accurately described by the bartender as “edible crack," and it's pretty much the neighborhood's favorite snack.

MY FAVORITE HAPPY HOUR

Oliver Twist's is unique, to say the least. The cocktails are amazing and surprisingly potent. The food is delicious and mouth wateringly delicious. But generally, the prices verge on the high side for this part of town. Enter happy hour, which knocks a couple bucks off of premium cocktails and food alike, and it's suddenly reasonable. The bacon dates and the truffle popcorn are to die for. Drinks are also often named after Dickinsonian characters, which is also a plus!

Classic

I love that that they took a chance on this place - spendy but fab small bites and fancy cocktails are not traditional Greenwood fare but it works and I love it! Cute Bartender helps but don't tell him I said so.

arm and a leg

nice concept, but i always feel as though i spent too much. everything is about $2 above what it should be and before you know it the wallet is empty. too bad.

Witty and fully realized

Oliver's Twist has a whole lot of panache. The drinks are original, artfully designed, and always well crafted. The small selection of food dishes are clever and deliver on taste and presentation. The staff has that friendly neighborhood feel, like this is their well decorated home in which they will wow you with creative libations & snacks!

drinks not food

The food I had here wasn't worth it, it all seemed well crafted just too precious. The feel and the drinks were great though, happy servers, and a great sense of place. I'm happy it's near home. There is also a nice balance of drinks and wine, and even though they have all sorts of fancy coctails they can still do well with the old stand bys.

Not Bad

Fun place that is trying new things. The drinks were ok but if you like something different its for you. Grilled cheese is a winner.

Not worth it.

A good idea but falls flat. The grilled cheese and the tomato cappucino was great but was far to small for the asking price. The lamb prosciutto and mellon plat faired worse. 4 small sheets of lamb wrapped around mellon for $10? Worse was the truffled popcorn. A greasy salty mess served in a old school popcorn bag. The bag arrived saturated in said grease from all the oil. If one is paying good money for smaller portions the final product should be a revelation not missteps. I'll think twice about throwing my money away before going back again.

Strange but good

These guys are obviously trying to push the boundaries on the food and cocktail front and given how hard they are pushing they are succeeding remarkably well. I thought the small plates were really good despite their strangeness - watermelon carpaccio for e.g. The cocktails were highly experimental but didn't score quite as high because the ingredients often were more provocative then anything else. They didn't blend particularly well or taste that special. They were good just not great.

marshmallow chocolate brioche sandwich

This place is for food lovers who love to share and then marvel over how good everything is, and don't mind spending a little more to get that blissed out feeling. Small plates like bleu cheese and bacon stuffed dates ($8 for 4, but you don't need more than 4). My friend had the grilled cheese with tomato cappucino. The grilled cheese was a revelation. How can two ingredients have so much flavor? We also ordered the marshmallow chocolate brioche sandwich. Also, Oliver's Twist has the best bathroom--it's pretty and smells good and there was a bowl of dumdums in it. Yeah!
