National right-wing bloggers worked themselves into a spittle-frothed frenzy last week over a mere job posting by Service Employees International Union (SEIU) Healthcare 775NW. The union, representing Washington State's thousands of home-health-care workers, listed responsibilities that include leading members in "non-violent civil disobedience, such as occupying state buildings and banks, and peaceful resistance," and planning and executing "banner drops, bank takeovers, and capitol occupations."

"If there was ever a question whether [SEIU] is a radical and militantly Marxist union," a post on the entertainingly wacko RedState blog declared, "this SEIU job description... should remove all doubts."

"Looters, moochers, destroyers, rapists, thieves, arsonists, killers, etc.," screamed sharia-fearing birther Pamela Geller on her objectively crazy objectivist blog Atlas Shrugged, while the obviously antilabor LaborUnionReport deadpannedly asked: "Will 2013 be the year when a real attorney general finally begins to look at the entire SEIU structure with RICO in mind?"

That's right: These fucking-stupid, crazy-paranoid, right-wing morons apparently view this job listing as reason to prosecute SEIU under racketeering laws devised to combat organized crime. What a bunch of fucking-stupid, crazy-paranoid, right-wing morons.

"This is just the lunatic ravings of far-right bloggers," says SEIU 775NW vice president Adam Glickman, explaining that SEIU's members have long engaged in nonviolent civil disobedience like that described in the job posting. For example, the Take Back the Capitol protest in Washington, DC, earlier this month was largely organized and paid for by SEIU, and there was nothing particularly "radical" or "militantly Marxist" about it—not the almost-too-polite sit-in at Representative Dave Reichert's office, or the impressively massive occupation of K Street the next day, which somehow managed to go off with zero looting, mooching, destroying, raping, thieving, arson, or killing.

Go figure.recommended
